Setting up the Recommender Engine in Digital Hive


The Digital Hive recommendation engine collects data on the user’s actions. Then uses this data to curate a list of artifact suggestions that the user may be interested in or may need in the future.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that IQ has been installed.

Procedure

  1. At the top right corner of the Digital Hive interface, click the applications icon (). In the Applications box that appears, click the Administration icon.
    The Digital Hive Admin Panel page opens.
  2. In the menubar, click Systems.
    The Systems page opens.
  3. In the left navigation panel, select IQ.
    The Systems > IQ page opens.
  4. Click the toggle to Enable Recommendations.
    The page displays configuration settings.
  5. The fields located under Settings have been pre-filled, no changes are needed to be made.
    Note: If you wish to obtain the Access Key, navigate to the Theia installation folder on your device. Navigate to the IQ folder where the Access Key note is located.

IQ Status


The IQ Status displays the status of the two IQ servers used by Digital Hive. The Event Server is used to collect all user data such as inputted connectors. The Recommender engine will enable Digital Hive to provide users with a list of curated artifact suggestions.

To activate the Recommender engine, follow the steps in Scheduling the Training Status.

Scheduling the Training Status

Scheduling the Training Status is crucial for the Recommendation Engine to provide accurate recommendations.

Befor you begin

  • Ensure that at least two connectors have been inputted into Digital Hive.
  • To add a connector follow the steps in Adding a New Connector.
  • Ensure that Digital Hive has been in use for a couple hours for the Recommendation Engine to be able to collect an efficient amount of user data.

Procedure

  1. At the top right corner of the Digital Hive interface, click the applications icon (). In the Applications box that appears, click the Administration icon.
    The Digital Hive Admin Panel page opens.
  2. In the menubar, click Systems.
    The Systems page opens.
  3. In the left navigation panel, select IQ.
    The Systems > IQ page opens.
  4. Select Setup under the Training Status section.
  5. In the pop-up, select the desired training times.
  6. The Training Status updates and displays the Current status, Last training time, and Next training time.
  7. Once the Training process completes, the Recommender Engine will deploy to online.

Importing Training Data


If you have been running Digital Hive previously and recently updated the application, click on Run post-upgrade import of training data. This will allow Digital Hive to import the user activity from the previous version into the IQ, as well as update the indexing.
Note: Based on the amount of Connectors your application currently has it may take a short while to import all the data into the IQ.
